In short

According to an Anadolu Agency report dated 16 October 2026, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said the number of 5G subscribers reached 47,661,726 as of the end of September. 5G went live on mobile networks across the country on 1 April 2026.

Anadolu Agency (AA) reported on 16 October 2026 that Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu said 5G subscribers in Türkiye reached 47,661,726 as of the end of September. 5G went live on mobile networks across the country on 1 April 2026.

  • The 5G auction was held on 16 October last year with three operators and raised 3.534 billion dollars.
  • 21 million subscribers had access to 5G on the first day; the figure rose to 44.5 million in August.
  • The minister said the goal is to bring 5G gradually to every part of Türkiye within two years.
  • The report gave no figures for base stations, coverage rates or speeds.

Why it matters

Uraloglu said 5G will be used in smart factories, autonomous robots, smart road systems and energy management, and that it offers much lower latency and higher device connection capacity than 4.5G. Because the ministry's goal is for coverage to expand gradually over two years, companies planning 5G-based sensors, cameras or machine connections in factories, warehouses or field operations would do well to confirm coverage at their sites with the operators.
