In short

According to an Anadolu Agency report dated 1 October 2026, Rönesans Altyapi and US-based data center company Digital Realty formed a strategic partnership to develop and operate next-generation data centers in Türkiye. Construction of the first phase of the first campus in Ankara has started.

Anadolu Agency (AA) reported on 1 October 2026, citing a company statement, that Rönesans Altyapi and US-based data center company Digital Realty have formed a strategic partnership to develop and operate next-generation data centers in Türkiye. The first campus is in the Temelli area of Ankara's Sincan district, and a new campus is also planned in İstanbul.

  • Construction of the first phase has started. It is planned to provide over 22 MW of IT capacity and more than 10,000 square meters of space, with operations targeted for 2028.
  • Over the long term, the partnership aims to reach 200 MW of IT capacity in Türkiye and investment potential of up to 3 billion dollars.
  • According to the report, 200 MW equals 20 percent of the 1 GW capacity target set for 2030 in Türkiye's National AI Action Plan.
  • Target customers include companies and public institutions in Türkiye as well as international cloud, technology and digital service providers.

Why it matters

The report links the investment to growing capacity needs in AI, cloud, data storage and connectivity infrastructure. New capacity in Ankara and İstanbul could widen the options for institutions that must keep data in the country and for companies thinking of moving servers to an outside facility. Since the first phase targets 2028, short-term infrastructure plans will likely still have to rely on existing facilities. Digital Realty also aims to offer its global data center platform to customers in Türkiye, which companies that also host servers abroad may want to follow.
