In short

On 9 October 2026 Google announced on its Workspace Updates blog four new features for the flow builder in Workspace Studio. Nested conditions, skipping follow-up replies in Gmail, richer calendar data from Meet and a document search step in Drive are rolling out gradually from 13 October.

Google announced new logic and search steps for Google Workspace Studio on its Workspace Updates blog on 9 October 2026. Google says the features let users build more advanced automations in the flow builder without writing code.

  • Nested conditions: flows can now contain multi-layered decision paths.
  • Gmail skip replies: Gmail thread triggers can be set to ignore follow-up replies, so a flow starts only for the original incoming message, not for the replies.
  • Meet calendar outputs: the Google Meet step now passes on more details from the calendar event, such as everyone invited, and can use templates to draft follow-up e-mails after a meeting.
  • Search for a doc: a new Google Drive step lets a flow look up matching document files using search parameters.

Any Google Workspace customer or Workspace Individual subscriber with Workspace Studio access can use the features. A gradual rollout to Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains started on 13 October 2026 and can take up to 15 days to become visible. Controls follow the existing Workspace Studio policies at domain and organisational unit level.

Why it matters

Companies that use Google Workspace could use these steps to automate repetitive work such as sorting incoming request e-mails, preparing follow-up e-mails after meetings or finding the right document, without software development. Because the features are switched on by default for end users, IT administrators should review Workspace Studio policies per organisational unit and decide which teams may build flows.

Our approach to organising meeting notes and follow-up work is described on our meeting follow-up and summaries page.
